Fast-fashion x Sustentavelmente Correto (Fast-Fashion x Sustainable Correct)

Este post vai para você, consumista de carteirinha, que se preocupa apenas em seguir as últimas tendências ditadas pela moda, mas que não sabe os malefícios que tal roupa pode causar ao meio-ambiente antes de chegar ao seu guarda-roupa!!

A globalização tornou possível a produção de roupas a preços cada vez menores; preços tão baixos, que consumidores passam a considerar tais roupas como descartáveis - sistema popularizado pela expressão fast-fashion (o fast-food de roupas). Porém com a diminuição do ciclo de vida das roupas, este novo sistema deixa rastros de poluição na natureza. 

Por mais difícil que seja sair da era fast-fashion para a "sustentavelmente correta", não podemos ignorar todos os problemas que a indústria da moda causa para o meio-ambiente e passar a entender como funciona esse processo e que somos pivôs da produção de lixo em massa, trocando de "estilo" a cada tendência e descartando roupas como papel-higiênico. 

O poliéster, por exemplo, fibra mais utilizada em manufaturados, é feita a partir do petróleo. Com o aumento da produção na indústria da moda, a demanda por fibras sintéticas (principalmente o poliéster) quase dobrou nos últimos 15 anos (de acordo com dados dos mercados técnicos têxteis). A produção destes é um processo intensivo de energia que requer grandes quantidades de petróleo bruto e emissão de gases poluentes que causam e agravam doenças respiratórias.

Agora que você entende um pouco mais sobre o poliéster e com as consequências do consumo do mesmo, na hora de comprar novas roupas, procure se informar sobre o tipo de fibra da qual a roupa foi feita além da responsabilidade-social da marca com os seus funcionários (uso de equipamento de proteção etc.) e com o meio-ambiente. As roupas feitas de tecidos reciclados ou fibras naturais podem custar um pouco mais caro, mas por muitas vezes durarão mais e o meio-ambiente agradece!

Polyester of top quality

This post goes to you, consumer-addicted, who cares only to follow the latest trends dictated by fashion, but does not know about the harm that such clothing may cause to the environment before arriving to your wardrobe.

Globalization has made possible the production of clothing to ever lower prices, prices so low that consumers began to consider such clothes disposable - system popularized by the term fast-fashion (fast- food of clothes). But  due the decrease of the life cycle of clothing, this new system leaves trace of pollution in the nature.

However difficult it is to leave the fast-fashion age for a "sustainably correct", we can not ignore all the problems that the fashion industry cause to the environment and start to understand how this process works and that we are responsible for the mass production of waste, changing "style" by every trend and discarding clothes as toilet paper.

The polyester, for example, most commonly fiber used in manufacturing, is made of oil. With the increase of production in the fashion industry, the demand for synthetic fibers (primarily polyester) almost doubled in the last 15 years (according to data from the technical textiles markets). Its production is an energy-intensive process that requires large amounts of crude oil and greenhouse gas emissions that cause and aggravate respiratory diseases.

Now that you understand a little more about the polyester and the consequences of consuming it, in time to buy new clothes, try to inform about the type of fiber of which the linen was made, also the social responsibility of the brand with their employees (use of protective equipment etc.) and to the environment. The clothes made from recycled fabric or natural fibers may cost a little more expensive, but often last longer and the environment thanks!

Eu voltei!! (I am back!!)

Depois de - anooos (brincadeira) - meses sem atualizar o blog, aqui estou com antigos débitos e coisas novas. Conto com você para acompanhar as novidades, atrasadas por 5 meses, nos próximos dias! Espero que você se divirta e mais do que se divertir, reflita e conscientize-se!

Para os que não sabem, eu estou de volta ao Brasil (ainda por tempo indeterminado). Apesar de estar aproveitando o que esse país maravilhoso tem para oferecer de bom, eu devo confessar como é difícil não se sentir afetado pela atual situação política em que o nosso país se encontra:

- Professores em greve a mais de 70 dias (isso mesmo, SETENTA dias!!), falta de verba na educação, saúde, saneamento básico, cultura e políticos corruptos recebendo salários irreais para roubar o povo!!

- A construção da Barragem do Belo Monte: abalos ambientais, abalos sociais, perda de biodiversidade  e a atitude e tratamento do governo brasileiro com os índios - Tudo isso severamente criticado internacionalmente e o governo brasileiro parece ignorar tudo isso.

O que moda tem a ver com tudo isso?! TUDO e eu vou te mostrar nas próximas postagens...

After - yeaaars (just kidding) - months without updating the blog, here I am with old debts and new stuff.  Hope you are ready to follow all the news, delayed by 5 months, in the next coming days! I hope you will have fun, and more than have fun, reflect and become aware!

For those who do not know, I am back in Brazil (still for an indefinitely time). Even though I am enjoying what this gorgeous country has to give of good, I must confess how hard is to do not feel affected by the current political situation:

- Teachers on strike for over 70 days (yes, SEVENTY DAYS!!), lack of education, health, sanitation, culture and corrupted politicians receiving unrealistic wage to rob the people!!

- The Belo Monte Dam construction - Environmental affects, Social affects, Loss of biodiversity,The attitude and treatment of the Brazilian government towards the affected indigenous - All this is strongly criticised internationally and the Brazilian government seems to ignore it.

What fashion has to do with all that?! EVERYTHING and I will show you in the following posts...

Moda com ética e sustentabilidade (Fashion with Ethics and Sustainability)

This past weekend I went to Paris to check the Ethical Fashion Show, a Fashion fair that brings together Fashion Designers from all over the world (mostly of Europe, in this edition) which follows the same principle: Make Fashion worring about the future of the planet!

The role of these profissionals is to create a susteinable fashion as reusing recyclable materials, helping needed communities, creating and recreating in order to aware ordinary people, as you and me, to chose products environmentally and ethically produced in place of others.

Neste último final de semana, fui a Paris conferir a feira de "Moda Ética", a qual reúne designers de moda do mundo inteiro (a maioria da Europa, nesta edição), os quais seguem o mesmo princípio: Fazer moda se preocupando com o futuro do planeta!!

O papel desses profissionais é criar moda sustentável reutilizando materiais recicláveis, ajudando comunidades carentes de países desiguais, criando e recriando com o objetivo de conscientizar pessoas comuns, como eu e você na escolha da compra de produtos ecologica e eticamente produzidos no lugar dos que não seguem o mesmo princípio.

Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland, but not its capital, contrary of what many thinks (Bern is the capital which I will post after). According to several surveys, from 2006  to 2008, Zurich was named the city with the best quality of life in the world and the wealthiest city in Europe.

Talking about art, the city hosts one of the most important theaters in the German-speaking world and also an impressive number of art galleries and museums, as the Swiss National Museum.

The Zurich Film Festival, which began in 2005, is already one of the most important upcoming international film festivals, offering an insight into the work of young, upcoming filmmakers from around the world and to promote the exchange of ideas between established film workers, young talent and the public.

Fashion: this is the year of the second edition of Charles Vögele Fashion Days, which will take place in Zurich at 9-12 of November. The event will present various local and international designers, who will present their new collections in an exclusive atmosphere. There are also international music stars who will participate in the event of solidarity "Fashion Rocks" similar to what has happened in New York and London.
